Lunati Removed, Replaced By Furchi

Well, good news of a sort, as the powers that be have removed Carlos Lunati from Banfield's match against Tigre tomorrow and replaced him with Rafael Furchi. It's amazing what a few complaints, and several articles questioning the governing body's motives can do. While I'd love to take full credit, I doubt that this blog has even come close to getting a blip on AFA's radar.

No, the referee assignments, and Guillermo Lorente complaints, have drawn the attention of the Argentine media, and they have mobilized like a vast army. Newspapers, television, and radio reports have taken up the cause.

With Banfield ahead of the standings by two points, all they have to do is win their last two matches to insure they win their first top flight title. For Newell's to win the championship, they will need Banfield to lose at least once. Should Banfield draw once, while Newell's wins both games, a single playoff game to determine the title will be needed. At least it's a fighting chance.

Now it's time to sit back, relax, and watch a tape delayed UEFA Champions League match.
