Red Devils Give Lepers Tour Of Hell

What more can be said about Newell's 4-1 away loss to Independiente? I got home in time to watch the last 15 minutes or so of the first half, which ended scoreless. The suffering started in the second.

Really, I can't think of anything good to say about Newell's performance, the defense looked poor even before Nicolás Spolli was sent off (69th minute.) Where the marking was tight in the first two games, now there is no discipline. Los Diablos Rojos simply took advantage of the holes that were provided them.

Add to that it appears that teams now know who they have to mark in the Lepra offense, and thus the quality chances are drying up.

Formica proved that he still has the scoring touch with his goal, but that was too little too late.

For those Lepra who wish to suffer through it, here are the goals:

Goals:

Independiente:
Leandro Gioda (46)
Ismael Sosa (67)
Leonel Ríos (72)
Hernan Fredes (73)

Newell's Old Boys:
Mauro Fórmica (71)
