Boghossian Heading To Europe

It's now official, Joaquín Boghossian has left for Europe, signing a four year deal with FC Red Bull Salzburg of Austria. As much as I've enjoyed watching him play for Newell's Old Boys last season, he was only on loan from Cerro of Uruguay.

Salzburg are a quality side, having won the Austrian League championship in three of the past four season, and have won the league a total of six times (1993-94, 1994-95, 1996-97, 2006-07, 2008-09, 2009-10) to go along with four Austrian Cup wins (1974, 1980, 1981, 2002.) I hope Bogho does well on his European odyssey.

In total, Joaquín scored 17 goals for Newell's over the course of 34 games. But he was more than just a goal scorer. He was a fixture coming back on defense for set plays, he genuinely seemed to enjoy his futbol more than almost any player I've ever seen.

I hope that he will not forget his time with La Lepra, for we certainly will not forget him anytime soon. In fact it's difficult to believe that the team will be able to match the results obtained this past season with out him.
