Gato Blackburn Bound?

The story at rosario3.com sounds more promising that any of the others they have reported during this transfer window, but the thought of Newell's Old Boys dealing Mauro Fórmica to Blackburn Rover does not fill me with joy. It is not that I have anything against Blackburn exactly, but I do have a general dislike of the English, much as most Argentines do.

I also took a quick look at the Blackburn roster. There are only two Spanish speaking players on the team at the moment, Roque Santa Cruz, a Paraguayan striker who is only with the club on loan from Manchester City, and Spainish rightback Michel Salgado. That said, I hope El Gato has been studying up on his English.

Still, all the paperwork is not filled out and filed, and there is a matter of passing a medical exam, so nothing is really certain. To finish up those details Mauro will be flying to England on Thursday. I expect we will not get a full confirmation until after the weekend.

Thanks for your inside thoughts on Gato. I'm a Rovers fan and we are going through a lot of changes right now.
I also appreciate your honesty about having a slight dislike of the English. Most or the world shares this dislike with you: France, Spain, Greece, Argentina, America etc. (sigh)

Thank you for stopping by. I suppose I should rephrase my statement a bit... after all, I do have some friends who are English, though I have only been in contact with of late is through the internet.

What I really don't have a liking for is the English style of football. Still, there are worst places Gato could go, but at least there is little to no chance of Formica going to a team in MLS.
